The story takes place in the Academic City on Water, named Rikka. This city is otherwise known as "Asterisk," famous for being the world's largest stage for star wars.
People of the Starpulse Generation, belonging to six different academies, made their vows with meteorite fragments to compete for the supremacy of this city.
